Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to bat first up against England team in the 27th match of ICC World Cup 2019 from Headingley, Leeds.
In the first inning Sri Lankan Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera were not able to score much runs for their team.
But Avishka Fernando along with Kusal Mendis helped with their bat to runs on the board as they built up partnerships.
Fernando scored 49 runs and Kusal Mendis scored 46 runs. Jeevan Mendis was on the golden duck.
While Angelo Mathews was amazing with his bat as knocked 85 runs not out inning off jsut faced 115 balls including with 5, fours and only a six, Although he was 15 runs short from his century.
Dhananjaya de Silva helped Sri Lanka to post 232 runs on the board with the lost of 9 wickets after played 50 overs.
In the runs chase Jonny Bairstow was on the golden duck and James Vince got out early as well after scored 14 runs.
Joe Root was going so well but not as enough just managed to score 57 runs off 89 balls as caught behind on a delivery of Malinga.
Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali tried to score but much runs on the board by them as they were out early.
Ben Stokes was fine with form of batting as he knocked up 82 runs not out inning that went waste as England could not chase the total as they were bowled at the score 212 runs with in 47 overs.
Sri Lanka beat up England team by 20 runs as Sri Lanka made chances to qualify for Semi-Final. Lasith Malinga was awarded the player of the match for his outstanding bowling performance took 4 crucial wickets and conceded 43 runs.
